Eastern Harvestman-(Leiobunum vittatum)

The Harvestman ,better known as grand daddy long leg spiders, though they are arachnids they are not actually spiders. They’re in the same Order as spiders (think of them as long lost cousins) but with a few key differences.

An Eastern Harvestman – (Leiobunum vittatum) better known as a Grand Daddy Long leg. I believe I shall call him Wilson

While many people have heard the myth that Harvestman have the most poisonous bite of any spider this is not actually true. In fact they don’t even have fangs to be able to inject venom with, they actually have a pair of mandibles which are too small to cause any harm to humans.

Like lizards with their tails Harvestmen can remove their legs to help evade predators, this however is a bit more costly to the Harvestman due to the fact that it can’t grow it’s legs back.
